This was the point of no return - once that veil is down,
the only way out is to the Chuppah, hence we were both very nervous, and excited.
Enough preparation already... it's time to get married!
The Bedecken is a reminder of the veiling of Leah, wife of Avraham, whom he married in place of Rachel because of a deception played against them by her father, Lavan. In the modern custom, the husband-to-be lowers the veil himself so that he really does know who is beneath it!
