The Daleks Sing (and perform...)!

As part off their never-ending quest to conquer the Universe, the Daleks attempted to take on Broadway and London's West End.

Shown here is a scene from The (Emperor) Dalek and I, a moral story set in old Skaro. The moral is that by doing your bit for the Daleks, you can help to make the conquest happen that much sooner.

Clearly, with audiences paying huge sums for their tickets, this raised a lot of money for the Dalek war chests, whilst demoralising their future enemies, the hu-mans. A double-whammy for the Daleks in their campaign.

What the Daleks failed to realise of course, was that hu-mans did not understand, and thought that the awful lyrics and music were just another piece by Andr*w Ll*yd W*bber (name concealed for legal reasons...)

A less successful piece was The Dalek of the Opera. It was a bit hard for an old-style dalek to move deftly in the scenery, and the role has since gone to a new-style, flying Dalek.

The mask also lacked the pathos of the human version, since there was nothing to really cover. We can only speculate that the cloak was hide the "flying harness" required to go up the stairs on stage*.

(*Note: It now appears that he didn't need the flying harness - all he had to do was say "El-e-vate!", and he was up there in a jiffy...)

Not so musical, but still in showbiz, this was Skaro The WonderVoice, a ventriloquist of rare talent. His little dummy, "Extermino" wowed Dalek audiences all over the galaxy (at least he didn't shoot anybody as part of his act...).

Of course, his biggest problem, being a dalek, was that his lights flashed whenever he spoke, which ruined the illusion somewhat!

Long, long ago, the Daleks visited Earth, but nobody took them seriously. Why not? Because they'd been preceded by Tommy of Skaro, the infamous Licenced Fool. He told jokes (and yes, they were old even then...).

As a result, when the real dalek force arrived and told everybody to obey, they just laughed at the lot of them. The only time a dalek invasion was repulsed by laughter!

As we at Dalek World get information about more Dalek "stage musicals", we will bring you the exclusive details .
