World Jewish Chess Association

Ordinary
Chess has Associations. So
why doesn't Jewish Chess have a really lovely Association of it's own,
where nice Jewish Boys and Girls can play this wholesome family game (but
not with eachother, at the same time, Chas VeShalom!)? You can join this organisation by deciding to start a Local Chapter. This entitles you to play by your own rules, and to make whatever changes you like. But bear in mind that there is only one True form of Jewish Chess. Within a Chapter, members are known as Verses, because they play Versus eachother. Note that NO piece is allowed to move outside the Daled Amot of the Rules in any version, and that "Reform" versions of the rules will not be recognised in Israel. (Conservative versions claim to allow fewer variations, but who are they fooling?) Players should take one extra move in Chutz-L’Aretz on Yom-Tov Sheni Shel Gallut, but foreign players living in Eretz Yisroel during the Chag should consult a Rabbi. Some Rabbis will rule that you shouldn't play on Shabbos, because it's a waste of good learning time! To register your new Local Chapter, simply post a message (or email) to Eliyahu HaNovi, who will resolve all rules disputes before Moshiach comes. The World Jewish Chess Championships will be held (B’H) after Moshiach has called all the players to return to Israel. Men and women will
play in separate tournaments, and people who are either both or neither
will have to consult a competant Rabbi to decide which to play in. |

you would like to suggest any new variants (along with special pieces to
be used in them), Email
us! We will be delighted to hear from you. (You don't have
to draw the pieces - just describe them!) |
